Our Automotive manufacturing client based in Leeds are seeking a Customs Warehouse Controller to join their Warehouse team.

They need someone with shipping and / or Customs experience. Training will be given but this is a critical role and so they need someone with some knowledge and understanding within ideally customs but, if not shipping.

Role Summary:

In this role you will be the main point of contact in the business for all Customs related matters. You will ensure all Customs related activity is managed like a well-oiled machine, taking a methodical and organised approach to your work.

Your effective communication skills will be paramount in making sure the job is done well. Attention to detail is also important in this role so that nothing is missed and errors are not made.

Key Responsibilities:

? Provide clear instructions to Customs Brokers for Simplified Customs Declaration Procedures (SCDP).

? Maintain accurate import/export logs.

? Ensure all receipts are processed into the DMS in line with guidelines set out by HMRC.

? Maintain accurate records for SCDP clearances and associated import and export transactions.

? The main point of contact for Customs Brokers when issues arise within the duty management system (including SCDP clearances, receipt queries, CDS entry rejections and any other abnormalities).

? Liaise and collaborate with functions within the business to ensure correct management relating to any item that falls within the customs process (including maintaining master data).

? Promote awareness of customs processes and relevant authorisations throughout the business.

? Monitor new rules and regulations within Customs space related to operations and implement accordingly.

? Obtain proof of export as and when required.

? Ensure accurate SCDP month end close within HMRC timescales.

? Provide complete and accurate Bill of Discharge (BoD) submissions to HMRC for each period.

? Conduct regular compliance audits on import/export transactions and transactions in the DMS including master data, general customs processes and operating instructions.

? Take relevant remedial actions as an output of checks and audits.

? Communicate accordingly with HMRC as and when required.

? SHIPPING EXPERIENCE

Person Specification:

Ideally you will:

?Be self-motivated, proactive and organised.

?Ability to interact and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

?Sound IT skills with good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (competent user of Excel is a must)

?Strong interpersonal skills.

?High standard of written communication and attention to detail.
