Background
Gemma has well over a decade’s experience working with technical engineering and manufacturing companies. After graduating from Portsmouth University she spent eight years working as a technical manufacturing and engineering design recruiter, before joining the team at Gerrell & Hard in 2013.
Role at Gerrell & Hard
Gemma supports clients with full-lifecycle recruitment in any technical design and manufacture skillset for marine, consumer electronics, broadcast, medical and other markets. She recruits for a host of functions including technical, build, quality and test, procurement, purchasing and HR.
Free time
Gemma enjoys being a mum to her two young children and loves baking and being outdoors. She’s a keen foodie who also enjoys running which, she says, “offsets the effects of the baking!”

“One of my kids is just starting to enjoy the joys of being able to run about and is, basically, a human tornado – so that’s fun!”
What it is about your job that gives you a buzz?
“For me it’s about successfully managing a process from beginning to end, seeing the results of my work and the impact that can have on an individual. It’s also about the people I work with; as well as having great relationships with my customers I like our culture here. We have a lot of autonomy but also a really collaborative, supportive team.
What are you most proud of in respect of your role?
“I’m proud of the collective experience that the Gerrell & Hard team can offer, its niche expertise and the way that each individual in the team is absolutely and without fail focused on the long-term. We’ll politely decline an opportunity for business if we don’t think we can deliver to our usual standard.”
