We are looking for a Head of Production, with a proven track record to lead the insourcing and manage final assembly operations. As the Head of Production, you will play a crucial role in ensuring final assembly is insourced from the current contract manufacturer, whilst maintaining ongoing production. You will have the ability to navigate and lead an environment of change, focusing on the key KPI’s of output and quality. This is a pivotal time in this organisations journey. You will be passionate about scaling up an iconic, British heritage brand and ensuring world class product quality.

What you’ll do initially:
The business has made the strategic decision to insource it’s supply chain and final assembly operations from their current contract manufacturing partner. The changes in strategy are to increase control to ensure production output, quality, as well as cost optimisation. As the Head of Production, you will be responsible in the initial period for the insourcing of the final assembly operations including but not limited to:
- Personnel – TUPE of existing personnel and recruitment of additional personnel where required.
- Systems – Gain a full understanding of current systems and processes at the production facility, with a view to manage existing systems and processes, whilst identifying optimisation potentials and appropriate solutions to improve current operations e.g. SOP’s, production scheduling etc.

Job Purpose
Oversee the daily running of the manufacturing site taking lead from the CTO

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the daily output of the manufacturing plant is achieved.
- Ensure the correct levels of quality are achieved for manufactured products.
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment is maintained.
- Setting of KPI’s to achieve the company goals.
- Ensure all departments complete all necessary KPI’s given.
- Work with process engineering on the introduction of new volume product.
- Work with process engineering on shop floor improvements and time saving.
- Work with the quality department to address emerging or current quality issues found.
- Work with the design department supporting the design of new waste installations.
- Mentor & support department leads in their daily activity to help in support of company goals.
- Complete 6-month appraisals of department leads.
- Address required disciplinary issues with the support of the CTO.
- Management of all final assembly personnel c10 heads.

Budgetary accountability
- Supporting the CTO with budget creation where needed.
- Ensuing budget spend is adhered to.

Problem Solving & Accountability\
- Ensuring daily output is achieved, having solutions for potential problems that could occur like machine breakdown etc.
- Ensuring all manufacturing machinery and equipment is maintained to a suitable level so the required output is achieved.
- The reduction of waste from the manufacturing processes working alongside proces engineering.

Career progression opportunities - External support will be given to help develop the person within the role through training or mentoring.

What you’ll need:

Essential experience
- The management of people at level of team lead.
- The organisation of day-to-day production meeting KPI’s.
- Good problem solving and communication with the wider team.
- Strong H&S understanding.

Desirable experience
- Running of a manufacturing facility of >£10M turnover
- Running of multiple teams.
- Accountable for >25 plus employees.
