Simon Davey

Simon has earned a degree of trust from his clients that means he has the autonomy to select the best candidates for interview and set up and run every element of a hiring programme. Skilled at managing projects, he works with a number of renowned brands to recruit new generations of specialist engineering graduates.

Background

Simon’s love for the automotive industry began in his childhood when he saw a Formula 1 car on display at a garage, and he’s been fascinated by the industry ever since. He began his career working in the Naval and dockyard stock and supply trade, for companies including BAE Systems, before joining Gerrell & Hard in 2011. He was our first recruit and in his time with us has progressed from trainee consultant to Senior Consultant, spending more than five years learning recruitment best practice.

Role at Gerrell & Hard

Simon manages a number of key automotive and related accounts and is responsible for recruitment assignments from graduate engineers to engineering managers across a number of technical and OEM disciplines.

Free time

Simon likes acoustic music, singing and playing guitar and cooking. Rumour has it that he can be found on you tube in a pretty slick-looking music video.

Simon, what do you most enjoy about your role?

“I love building strong relationships with clients and candidates so I’m always focused on the long game of delivering a good, sustainable service that means customers want to continue working with me”.

Tell me something about you that I don’t already know…

“My grandad is half-Filipino, which is where I acquired my love of Asian spices!”

What’s your greatest achievement at G&H to date?

“I helped to set up a global recruitment platform for an elite automotive brand’s graduate hiring process, putting the measures and infrastructure in place that are still used today. Apart from the satisfaction of just delivering a good service day in day out, that felt like a great achievement because I love projects. And it didn’t hurt that I met a famous F1 driver in the process!”
