Hardware Chief Engineer

​G&H are proud to be supporting Indra Renewable Technologies to recruit a Hardware Chief Engineer to join their expanding team. This is a really exciting time for their business, they won the ChargePoint Manufacturer of the Year Award 2023 and have great plans to expand their range of products. They are also going to be continuing the development of V2H and V2G technologies which will be the future of EV charging technology.

As part of this role, you will lead their teams in successfully developing and launching new and innovative vehicle charging hardware products. You’ll be responsible for New Product Development (NPD) taking projects through initiation, design, development, and into successful production. You will lead, mentor and expand your multi-disciplined engineering team, whilst engaging with outsourced suppliers to increase development capacity.

You will need to have a significant experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams, and an in-depth understanding of the product development process and product life cycle. A background of developing technology products for volume manufacture would also be really useful.

Key responsibilities;

•Lead a multi-disciplined team of engineers (Electronics, Firmware, Mechanical, Installation Assurance) to develop and release high quality products

•You’ll network across industry and with our stakeholders and large-scale customers to lead definition of our hardware product roadmap

•You’ll work closely with our Software Products team to ensure overall integration of hardware with our App services and offer our customers a great combined product experience

•You’ll ensure your delivery team are focused on clear and accurate product specifications so they can deliver great projects at pace using our gated NPD development processes

•You’ll look across both internal and external partners to select the right engineering resources to deliver product work packages

•We have a great Systems and Certification team that will work alongside your team, to ensure all our hardware products are developed to be compliant with the relevant international standards UKCA, CE, UL, FCC etc

•You’ll lead researching and introducing new technologies to further develop our future product roadmap

•Your team will work closely with internal stakeholders and you’ll ensure our great products are supported by well documented guides such as technical hand-over packs, production instructions, design guides and installation guides

•As well as our NPD you’ll also ensure your team provide technical support of our existing products, including ensuring customer and quality concerns are proactively monitored, and any required engineering changes are executed in a timely manner

•As overall design responsibility, you’ll ensure your team drive cost effective hardware BOM costs and designed for manufacturing

Key skills;

•Degree level qualification in a relevant subject matter

•Significant experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams, with an in-depth understanding of the product development process and product life cycle

•Experience covering the entire technology stack involved in connected EV charging products including mechanical design, electronic design and embedded firmware

•Knowledge of key engineering design tools e.g. Altium/Kicad, SolidWorks and a range of programming IDEs

•A background developing technology products for volume manufacture

•An open and positive outlook, with an interest to explore new technologies and ideas
