Calm and consultative, Nick fills diverse roles across the automotive sector. He considers it his job to be a steadying, reliable and unchanging influence to his customers whether he’s having a great day or a bad one. For Nick, the ability to be a constant in customers’ lives is the hallmark of a good consultant, and something he strives to deliver.
Background
Nick began his recruitment career in 2010, working as a Resourcer with a Pharmaceutical recruitment business based close to Prague in the Czech Republic. After a year he was offered the chance to return to the UK to begin developing his employer’s automotive sector coverage. He grew accounts and hired for a number of automotive OEM companies, spending a further eighteen months with the same business in the UK before being offered the chance to join Gerrell & Hard in 2012.
Role at Gerrell & Hard
Nick is a full-process consultant and recruits within the automotive and motorsport markets, hiring for OEMs, Tier 1 supplies and consultancies. He regularly fills vacancies for Quality, Mechanical Design, Electrical, Battery Design and Stores & Logistics roles.
Free time
Nick is a big fan of music. He collects vinyl records (whatever they are), loves running and has tackled a number of half-marathons. He’s a “casual Pompey fan” and enjoys wine and fine dining, especially with the G&H team.
Nick, what do you most enjoy about your job?
“I enjoy the day to day challenges of recruitment. The technical skills I have successfully recruited for have been hugely varied, from Mechanical Design to Purchasing, Production and Vehicle Technicians, so the job keeps me on my toes!
I love being able to positively impact an individual’s life by getting them the job they need and the benefits they want. I get really excited about this; it can be life-changing for a person and that’s fantastic and really gratifying. And doing all of that in this environment is a real pleasure.”
Tell me something your customers might not know about you..
“I can play the drums; I’ve been in a few bands and I made a few demos when I was younger, but as I live in a terraced house right now, my drum kit is currently in pieces, which is only fair to the neighbours...”
What achievement are you most proud of?
“In terms of a specific achievement, I think successfully rising to the challenge of a large Motorsport project was very rewarding. But I’m also proud of our culture and our philosophy in general. We never overpromise, but even on really difficult assignments we often find creative solutions that surprise customers”.
