As a Technical Buyer, you will work in close collaboration with Polestar R&D and the global purchasing team. As a member of that team, you will plan and implement the sourcing activities of engineering development projects and new vehicle projects, maintaining frequent supplier contacts and consolidating global strategy.
You will also be leading the procurement, negotiations and cost management for natural fibre commodities within the Interior functional team to market competitive pricing with an emphasis on sustainability.
This role will report directly to the Polestar UK Purchasing Manager and on a day to day alignment with the local Engineering teams.
•Lead the supply chain development and establishment of a strong business case for composite natural fibre interiors within the context of sustainability.
•Collaborate closely with Engineering and act as the main contact for all commercial issues as well as a detailed understanding of the associated technical and quality challenges.
•Strategically develop a Chinese supply base evaluation (financial, logistics, sustainability, D&D), with a robust sourcing strategy via market testing for the industrialisation of natural fibre composites.
•Prepare and manage the RFQ process, lead negotiations, potential supplier visits (subject to travel restrictions), supplier quality assessments, implementation of supplier agreements and protection of Polestar IP.
•Deliverables based role within a limited time frame to meet the project milestones and may also be required to work on Procurement activities outside of natural fibre composites.
•Collaborate and coordinate with the global Polestar Purchasing team and cross functional teams comprising of Engineering, Programme Management, Quality, Cost Estimating, Manufacturing and Legal to secure the project deliverables.
•5 years+ direct material purchasing experience from the automotive industry, preferably within Interior functional teams, although other non-automotive industries will be considered e.g. consumer goods. An understanding of supplier quality activities (SQA/ STA) to deliver products to market would also be beneficial.
•The ideal candidate would have a variety of experience in areas such as: natural fibre materials, composites e.g. carbon fibre, manufacturing, engineering, supplier quality and cost analysis.
•University degree in business, engineering or equivalent work experience
•Good understanding of cost structures, supply chains, quality assessment, project management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Strong communication and presentation skills and fluent in English.
•Good interpersonal skills, pleasant personality, cross culture understanding, organizing and coordinating ability. International experience (esp. China) will be an advantage
