Our Automotive OEM is looking to grow their CAE department across Crash, Durability and Safety. This role is for a Senior Engineer, Crash CAE and they are seeking someone with crash structure CAE analysis.
Duties / Responsibilities:
Primary purpose of the role is to perform crash structure CAE analysis to support Engineering design function within the business on their products and external client projects.
As a member of the crash CAE team the successful candidate will be responsible for delivery relevant analysis results to support the development of projects for the business and external clients. The successful candidate will work with the design teams to ensure vehicle, system and component targets are met from the concept stage through to detailed design and to physical test support and correlation.
What is expected to be delivered and what action will this require?
Delivery of accurate, timely and directional analysis results
Model build, analysis, results interrogation, interpretation and recommendation
Crash analysis of vehicle structures from component to full vehicle to develop solution to meet component and vehicle targets
Development of simulation material models from test data and material data sheets
Presentation of CAE results and recommendations to cross-functional audience up to director level
Report writing
Contribution towards the development and delivery of the departments' strategic goals
Proficient data retention practices for CAE data and documentation
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Criteria:
Mechanical Engineering Degree
CAE role in at least three vehicle projects at OEM or Tier 1 level
Experience of the vehicle structure crash development process from initial concept stages to final sign-off to include solution development, optimisation and correlation
Proficient use of MS/Office software
Highly proficient at using Altair Hypermesh, Oasys Primer and LS/Dyna or similar tools
Capability to think in 3D and use of classical methods
Desirable Criteria:
Knowledge of riv-bonded aluminium structures
Occupant crash simulation
Use of optimisation techniques with LS/Dyna
Basic Catia, use of other FE methods and software
Automotive OEM or Tier 1 employment
