Job Description

We are looking for a Principal Engineer, Certification to join our fast-growing team. Working from the office, remotely, as required.

The Role
You will take responsibility for delivering the certification requirements on all Volta’s products. You will take ownership the certification for all Volta programmes from concept until end of life. You will work with the engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure that all products are approved in all the required markets worldwide. You will liaise with the necessary certification agencies as required.

Main Responsibilities

Define, develop, and implement a Certification strategy that is aligned with the generic product development timing plan to ensure delivery of Volta products in all markets.
Act as a focal point for all engineering enquiries about regulatory requirements that re current and up coming legislation.
Plan, control and deliver all certification testing required by to be complete by the vehicle test team, liaising with the necessary agencies to ensure the necessary witnesses are involved and the correct procedure is followed, and outputs recorded.
Take responsibility for all documentation is generated, presented, and recorded to ensure the certification requirements are met in a timely manner within the vehicle programme.
Manage the resources necessary to complete all the certification task, support engineers with certification enquiries and keep the wider company up to date with current and future regulations across all world markets.
Manage the resource requirements through recruitment or outsourcing.
By liaison between the regulatory agencies, the engineering teams, and the supplier base, ensure the optimal process is followed for achieving certification.
Liaise with regulatory bodies, industry associations and agencies to act as the voice of Volta in any upcoming regulation where industry input is required.
Qualifications and Experience

University degree in a relevant engineering topic
10+ years of experience in managing vehicle certification
An in-depth understanding of regulatory processes worldwide, the relevant agencies and bodies.
Proven track record of delivering type approval in a timely manner in short programmes.
Hands-on experience and understanding of high volume, low volume, individual vehicle certification and registration processes.
Previous experience in the utility/commercial/heavy vehicle sector and xEV projects is advantageous
Experience of management projects and coordinating complex tasks in a multi-disciplinary programme environment
Experience of delivering projects to demanding timelines whilst ensure all certification requirements are completed targets.
Strong team leadership and interpersonal skills, cross cultural understanding, organising, and coordinating ability
Proven problem solver with good planning skills, logical reasoning, and attention to detail
Positive and passionate, good team player
