Planning & Materials Control Manager
(SAP Super User required)
Permanent - £Market Rates
Colchester, Essex

Job Purpose:
Responsible for the creation and maintenance of Project and Departmental Schedules/Plans including material control and functionally responsible for Project Planning & material controls for all New Build and Repair & Overhauls activities. Deliver to primary customers of the function which are Production, Project Management and Service Dept.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
? Custodian of the Materials Control Processes and Procedures at Colchester site and the accuracy of the inventory levels on SAP
? Custodian of the Production planning processes and procedures and the development of a reliable MPS (Master Production Schedule) visible across the business in SAP
? Responsible for Project planning, departmental planning, material control and stores within the Colchester facility and the employees within these areas.
? Create and maintain Level 0/1/2/3 Plans for all New Build and R&O projects
? Create and maintain Entire project lifecycle
? Establish Anchor & Key Event Milestones on plans including material order points
? Responsible for lineside kit content accuracy and rasing the required by dates in SAP
? Ensure that Project Lifecycle Gates are clearly identified
? Produce and maintain a forward view of the projects and workload, feeding into the S&OP data/information as well as MRP plans.
? Maintain, create Production BOMs
? Maintain and update routings associated with production orders.
? Disseminate Plans to relevant departments/ areas and agree reporting requirements
? Direct and support each department to ensure that:
o Best practice planning of activities and resources is undertaken and reported on
o Key aspects of the Departmental plans are effectively linked into level 0/1 and 2/3 plans as appropriate
? Analyse and report on Risks & Opportunities
? Analyse and report on Schedule adherence
? Develop a suite of Management Reports and create and maintain ‘Project Dashboards’ as required
? Create a ‘Governance and Oversight’ relationship with the Production and Stockport logistics/Supply Chain
? Create and maintain responsibility for the following processes:
o Planning & Materials Controls Methodology
o Scheduling approach and process (for all levels)
o Risk & Opportunity Management
? Organise the stores area to deliver the service level needs of the business
? Be responsible for the suppliers supporting Colchester with regarding to consumables and also overhaul of parts that are outsourced.
? Ensure on time parts delivery to Colchester in accordance with the MPS for both New and Overhaul
? Create, identify and manage a visible parts shortage status document which is up issued daily for both internal and external parts.
? Expediting parts shortage and escalating where required to ensure on time delivery.
? React as necessary in terms of both plans and materials to meet new requirements (dates, scope, devoiations) arising from changes in schedules, issue in other business functions, issues impacting from outside than business unit.
? Be pragmatic in conflicting requirement situations as to what is the best option for the business, delivery it.
? Responsible for all aspects of material control for Colchester within SAP and local systems.
? Put in place KPIs to allow performance management of the material control function.
? Responsibility for the control, management and performance of Colchester sub-contract suppliers.

? Detailed technical understanding of, and at least 5 years management experience in, Planning & Material Controls
? Detailed understanding of production operations and facility optimization
? Must have MRP & SAP experience, SAP super user with a sizeable BOM (in terms of part numbers and levels)
? Be very structured and organised in approach to work even in an unstructred environment
? Made the business journey in a hands on way from imature disfuctional to something better
? At least 5 years of related experience, preferably within a mechanical equipment manufacturing / repair facility
? Must be highly proficient in use of MS Project and MS Excel
? Experienced in practical Risk Management, processes and tools
? Worked for a number of different organisations (ideally both large and medium sized)
? Able to support UK and international travel requirements

? Understand and gain knowledge about Engineering products, equipment, customer base and applicable processes
