Duties / Responsibilities (Including Objectives of the role):
Perceived Quality – Material Quality is responsible for setting and delivering the aesthetical targets for new vehicles. Assessing and reporting status during project phases and driving resolution of identified issues.This role is specifically to lead the Material Quality attribute, ensuring best practice material and surface finish selection and execution to ensure all future Brand Products meet and exceed our customers expectations.

Main duties include: 
- To be responsible for the Material Quality attribute of Perceived Quality
- Support development of PQ processes & procedures ensuring alignment within the wider Group 
- Liaise closely with parent Group companies to create a collaborative strategy across the brands
- Build close working relationships with Design, Marketing, Programme and Engineering to embed Perceived Quality into every stage of New Product Development and to become a recognised expert in this field
- Set aesthetical targets for material / surface finish / grain / gloss choice / harmony and application on complete vehicle and parts
- Participate in target balancing, highlighting consequences of programme decisions
- Secure surface finish standards are specified and delivered in design & engineering data
- Perform perceived quality attribute reviews on brand and competitor product
- Conduct Virtual (DPA2) and physical vehicle assessments during development phases
- Report status of PQ attribute to line and project management ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner
- Provide technical input to design on selection of materials & surface treatments
- Support engineering in development of robust solutions that deliver attribute requirements
- Keep up to date with industry trends / best in class practices with regards to Quality standards and customer expectations of Perceived Quality levels
- Research and understand cultural differences in Perceived Quality and differing market expectations 
- Interface with 3rd party organisations to develop and promote PQ internally
- Participate in and support Customer Clinics / Satisfaction Surveys and reporting
- Agree the vehicle and parts quality requirements with PD, programme, manufacturing and suppliers to exceed customer expectations
- Collaborate with Suppliers to create and approve individual Part Quality Standards ahead of final part release
- Assist production approval of parts both dimensionally and cosmetically during early build phases (Matching Builds / Cubing Exercises / Appearance Approvals etc)

Qualifications and Experience (Essential & Desirable criteria)
Essential Criteria:
- HNC minimum in an automotive engineering discipline
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of Perceived Quality within an automotive environment. Must be able to demonstrate application of engineering quality tools & techniques 
- Microsoft Office Suite, CAD skills enabling Computer Aided Analysis. Experience of vehicle design and development processes
- Dimensional / geometrical experience, datum strategies and assembly methods
- Must have an appreciation of automotive engineering quality tools and standards
- Analytical, structured, confident, with excellent communication skills. Ability to work under own initiative or part of a team. Must have a strong character in supporting visual debates
- Working knowledge of vehicle Interior & Exterior Components & systems
