Global tech innovator is offering an exciting opportunity to work on the research of ‘Next Generation EV technology & applications’. We are seeking a proven Lead BMS Engineer for the Tech Research division.
Accountabilities
The Lead BMS Engineer role will involve:
• Propose and develop state of the art hardware solutions for the BMS of battery packs incorporating emerging cell technologies
• Lead a team of hardware engineers to carry out the day to day tasks required to engineer a world class automotive BMS product meeting performance, quality, resource and time constraints
• Work closely with the BMS Research Manager and the software and systems process team leads to ensure alignment of deliverables, process and people
• Lead requirements capture, ensuring compliance with automotive standards for functional and electrical safety, EMC, vibration and environmental conditions
• Oversee the selection of components (both high and low power), schematic capture and the generation of PCB design files
• Oversee both analogue and digital circuit design (sensor inputs, LV psu, contactor driver stages, processor and control logic layout, memory and communications interfaces)
• Identify and audit suitable partners to contribute to the development life cycle, particularly relating to the verification of requirements
• Provide support to the embedded software team during software development
• Optimise cost and production effort via close collaboration with the existing BEV development team
• Define and conduct tests to validate required functionality
• Manage and nurture a high performance culture Communicate clearly and effectively the results and project status to a broad spectrum of associated project stakeholders and senior management
• Present concepts directly to the Senior Management team when required
Skills
Education and experience:
• BEng/MEng degree in Electronic Engineering with a demonstrable level of automotive experience associated with complex EV electrical systems
• Expert knowledge of the industry (e.g. part suppliers, external test houses)
Skills:
• Delivery of the hardware aspects of an automotive BMS or similar system to ISO26262 ASIL C
• Excellent technical awareness across the complete range of BMS hardware functionality
• The ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts, influencing cross-functionally at all levels
• Experience of line management and people development
• Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with part suppliers, external test houses etc.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently, take on new challenges readily, possess a hands on approach and work with a can-do attitude
