Job Description

Engineer – Thermal Systems

The Role:
• Design, develop & deliver the Thermal Systems content within the Chassis Systems Function Group
• Take ownership for various Thermal System commodities/sub-systems in all aspects of programme delivery & planning including design, target setting, specification, DFMEA, development, verification & launch

Main Responsibilities:
• Design components/systems using Catia V5
• Manage the on-time, on-budget and in-spec delivery of various commodities encompassing supplier and technology selection
• Creation & management of technical specifications and DFMEAs
• Translate programme deliverables into successful delivery plans to support vehicle/system/ component development and validation whilst championing relevant APQP functions at prototype builds and launch (PSW, PPAP, PFMEA)
• Represent the Chassis Systems Function Group as a credible authority on vehicle Thermal Systems design and development
• Ensure that the hardware content & design enables system & vehicle level attribute targets to be met
• Ownership of the relevant bill of materials and management of the content to meet mass, cost & investment targets
• Take the lead in design & manufacturing reviews with management and executive team as and when required
• Works seamlessly across the teams to ensure a collaborative approach is applied to the delivery of the project(s)
• Provide direction, guidance & coaching to more junior members of the team to support their development

The Person:
• Knowledge and understanding of the requirements for the development of vehicle cooling and AC Systems and components, ideally with experience of BEVs, is essential
• Technical and personal credibility, working effectively with other functional teams and business functions
• Strong team player with the ability to influence and motivate others to achieve the best possible results for the product/programme
• Good commercial awareness with pragmatic approach to product development that suits the size of our organisation
• Ability to prioritise workload & manage external inputs/requests with minimal supervision
• Logical thinker, driven to succeed
