Senior Design Engineer - Value Engineering

We’re looking for a Senior Design Engineer to lead value engineering initiatives across a broad range of components and systems. This is a technically focused role responsible for driving cost and process improvements through design optimisation, supplier engagement, and re-sourcing activities. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to deliver robust engineering solutions and will play a key role in mentoring junior engineers and promoting best practices across the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and deliver engineering solutions that improve the value of current and future components and processes.

• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through collaborative, cross-functional work.

• Engage with international suppliers to define and agree component specifications.

• Manage technical project delivery to meet defined cost, time, and quality targets.

• Support less experienced team members, providing guidance and promoting high standards.

• Contribute to risk assessment and mitigation planning.

• Follow and challenge existing processes to improve overall department efficiency.

Requirements:

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a mechanical design role within a manufacturing environment.

• Strong technical judgement and problem-solving skills.

• Prior experience in value engineering or cost-reduction projects.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

• Fluent in written and spoken English.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
