Mechanical Engineer – High-Speed Electrified Turbomachinery Projects

Hampshire

£40-50k + Bonus + Bens

Are you a mechanical engineer with a passion for high-speed rotating machinery and cutting-edge product development? We’re looking for a talented and driven Mechanical Engineer to join a fast-paced engineering environment focused on delivering next-generation electrified turbochargers and compressors for automotive, rail, and industrial applications.

This is a hands-on, design-focused role working at the forefront of New Product Development and Introduction (NPDI). You’ll be part of a highly skilled mechanical and systems team, helping to shape and deliver innovative electrified turbomachinery solutions from concept to test and validation.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop conceptual designs and turn sketches and ideas into detailed SolidWorks 3D models and assemblies.
Perform full mechanical design including stress, thermal, and fluid flow analysis, tolerance studies, and material selection.
Produce manufacturing drawings with appropriate tolerancing for cast, machined, and assembled components.
Design and support the build of test rigs and test beds, including instrumentation planning and development testing.
Apply risk management tools such as FMEA and FTA throughout the design process.
Collaborate across departments to support engineering change activities and technical integration.

What You'll Bring:
A minimum 2:1 degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Power Engineering (or similar).
Strong expertise in CAD design – SolidWorks preferred.
Proven experience in mechanical design and analysis, ideally with high-speed rotating machinery or turbomachinery.
Familiarity with NPI lifecycles, materials selection, and modern manufacturing techniques.
Ability to work with autonomy, manage priorities, and maintain a high standard of quality and detail in all output.

Why Apply?
This is your opportunity to work on exciting electrification technologies that are redefining energy systems. You'll be empowered to innovate, supported by a collaborative team, and play a key role in real-world product development. If you're technically skilled, self-motivated, and thrive in a dynamic engineering environment, we want to hear from you.
