A leading engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Area Lead – Value Engineering to lead a team focused on delivering cost and value optimisation across a wide range of components and systems. This role combines technical leadership with strategic planning and team development responsibilities, offering a unique opportunity to drive impactful engineering change within a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of value engineering projects across multiple product platforms.

  • Deliver engineering solutions that meet business targets for cost, quality, specification, and delivery timelines.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of engineers, supporting their development and ensuring high standards of work.

  • Collaborate with internal departments and external suppliers to identify opportunities, manage resources, and monitor project progress.

  • Act as a technical authority within the team, making sound engineering decisions and escalating issues when appropriate.

  • Support and enhance departmental processes while actively identifying and promoting best practices.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and help shape the team’s professional growth.

  • Stand in for functional leads as required and represent the team at key meetings.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in mechanical design and engineering, with significant hands-on experience.

  • Proven track record in value engineering, cost optimisation, or similar roles within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

  • Prior experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.

  • Strong planning, organisational, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities across departments and seniority levels.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

  • Forward-thinking mindset with a proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement.
