Logistics Manager
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + 5% bonus + benefits
Contract: Permanent
Industry: Manufacturing
Are you an experienced logistics and materials professional ready to take ownership of a key operational function within a growing, world-class manufacturing business?
We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Logistics Manager to lead and optimise the end-to-end flow of materials — from goods-in through to line-side delivery and final shipment. This is a high-impact role with plenty of scope to shape, improve, and modernise processes within a newly consolidated warehouse operation.
The Role
This is a pivotal position within the business, responsible for managing inventory, warehousing, internal logistics, and materials flow across multiple production units. Following the successful consolidation of two sites and the opening of a brand-new warehouse, there’s now an exciting opportunity to drive the next phase of operational improvement.
You’ll lead a team across shipping and warehouse operations, ensuring tight control of materials, developing systems capability, and improving efficiency, cost, and structure. Reporting directly to the COO, this role offers clear progression and development opportunities as you grow within the business.
Key Focus Areas
1. Inventory Management
- Maintain and improve already high stock accuracy while focusing on reducing inventory cost.
- Lead initiatives to optimise stock levels, improve costing accuracy, and enhance financial visibility.
- Oversee stocktaking, BOM accuracy, and materials reconciliation.
2. Materials Control & Internal Logistics
- Ensure strong control of materials across the entire production site — from warehouse through to manufacturing units.
- Manage materials distribution, replenishment, and line-side supply to support production efficiency.
- Review and improve storage of legacy materials, including potential use of third-party storage solutions.
3. Systems & Process Improvement
- Drive optimisation of the existing Winman ERP system, focusing on BOM control, inventory visibility, and process automation.
- Identify and deliver internal process improvements across warehousing, materials movement, and logistics documentation.
- Champion best practice and continuous improvement, ensuring robust systems and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategically plan and manage inventory, warehousing, transportation, and line-side materials flow.
• Oversee the management of raw materials, finished goods, legacy stock, and internal material movements.
• Develop and implement supply chain and inventory strategies — including ABC analysis, replenishment methods, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Manage and continuously improve the newly consolidated warehouse operation.
• Ensure compliance with ISO9001, AEO security, and customs regulations.
• Oversee export documentation (Letters of Credit, Certificates of Origin, Export Licences, Preferential Origin, etc.) and support regulatory audits (HMRC, ECJU).
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing logistics and warehouse team, implementing structure, accountability, and clear processes.
• Drive operational excellence, measuring and improving efficiency, accuracy, and cost performance across logistics.
About You
You’re an experienced, energetic logistics leader who thrives on making things work better — from warehouse layout and team structure to system utilisation and inventory control. You’ll be confident working within a complex manufacturing environment with high component counts and detailed BOM structures, and you’ll bring strong people skills to motivate and develop a capable team.
Requirements
• Proven senior-level experience in logistics, materials, or supply chain management within manufacturing.
• Demonstrable success in warehouse setup, process improvement, or materials management transformation.
• Strong ERP experience (Winman or similar) with excellent understanding of BOMs, inventory control, and materials flow.
• Knowledge of international shipping, export controls, and customs regulations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team development skills.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in business, supply chain, or engineering (preferred).
