Job description

Qualifications, skills and attributes
•    Ideally educated to HND or Degree level in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent experience
•    Knowledge of manufacturing methods (incl. Sheet-metal Fabrication, Welding, Metal Pressing, Tube manipulation, Robotics, Automation, Validation / Vision systems)
•    Experience with CATIA V5 or Solidworks preferred
•    Have an understanding of Jig & Fixture strategies
•    Excellent communication, motivation and people management skills
•    Prepared to travel on occasion
•    Awareness of quality operating systems in development and also production
•    Knowledge of Engineering drawings, General Dimensioning & Tolerancing
Knowledge of Exhaust Systems, Lean Manufacturing and Automotive standards is also desirable, but not essential.

Duties will include:
•    Jig & Tooling design and specification
•    Gauge & Validation system specification
•    Ensuring work undertaken is feasible and designed for manufacture
•    Ensuring best practice manufacturing methods are used both internally and externally
•    Check DFM, prototype builds, volume ramp up and plant production processes are fully supported
•    Conduct regular engineering reviews to ensure project milestone adherence
•    Liaising with suppliers of parts and tooling
•    Cost estimating
•    Planning their own workload and activities to ensure milestones are met
