I’m looking for 2 Design Engineers to join an expanding company in Dorset.

It’s 100% on site at their offices - They are a very small team tasked with doing a large amount of work, and the work requires tight integration from concept design to manufacturing and testing. They will be audited for ITAR compliance in the future so security clearance will probably be required.

You’ll be working on very high end aerospace engineering work relating to satellites and propulsion systems. They are using 3D printing alongside traditional machining to make parts in exotic metal alloys and ceramics. You’ll be taking concept designs and converting them into manufacturable, functional, buildable parts which they then test. Motorsports or Aerospace backgrounds would be highly relevant.

Qualifications & Education
•    Engineering Degree: A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Motorsport Engineering.

 Technical & Software Skills
•    CAD Proficiency: Advanced mastery of CATIA V5  for parts, assemblies and drawings.
•    Simulation & Analysis: Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (such as Ansys or Abaqus) to test stress, strain, and vibration limits.
•    Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T): Deep understanding to create clear, precise manufacturing drawings.
•    Materials Science: Expertise in lightweight, high-strength metals and composites, including titanium/ nickel alloys, high-strength steels, and specialized coatings.
•    Dynamics & Kinematics: Understanding gas and liquid flows, sensor applications

 Soft Skills
•    Spatial Reasoning: The ability to visualize and package dense, intricate gearboxes inside tightly constrained car layouts.
•    Meticulous Attention to Detail: Small errors in tolerances or drawing notes can cause catastrophic mechanical failure or expensive scrap parts.
•    Problem-Solving & Creativity: Finding ways to make assemblies lighter, stronger, and more efficient under extreme thermal and mechanical loads.
•    Cross-Department Communication: Working closely with aerodynamicists, stress analysts, build technicians and test engineers.

Opportunities to join on a permanent basis are also available.
