In this role, you will operate state-of-the-art test stations, diagnose performance issues, support repair activities, and help drive continuous improvements in quality and efficiency.

What You’ll Do

  • Operate multiple laser test stations, performing full functionality testing on repaired lasers.

  • Accurately record all test results in Sunrise and other internal systems.

  • Support diagnostic investigations on failed units, including structured fault finding and root-cause analysis.

  • Carry out repairs, including fibre handling and splicing, following established procedures and work instructions.

  • Assist the Service team with both repair and diagnostic workflows as needed.

  • Identify defective parts and collaborate with the Quality team on escalations.

  • Ensure all test equipment is properly operated, maintained, and issues are reported promptly.

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and ESD-compliant workspace.

  • Continuously apply best practice to improve throughput, product quality, and team efficiency.

What You’ll Bring

Essential

  • Experience in a technical test environment or similar engineering test role.

  • Proven ability in fibre handling and fibre splicing (cleaving, stripping, preparation, splicing).

  • Strong, logical problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.

  • Good IT literacy, including Excel, Word, and data-entry systems.

  • Motivation to understand fibre laser operation and diagnose failures.

Desirable

  • Experience with lasers, optics, fibre optics, or electronics.

  • Familiarity with oscilloscopes, power meters, digital multimeters, or similar test equipment.

  • Previous experience in repair or service environments.

Qualifications

  • HNC or equivalent in an engineering or science discipline, or strong hands-on industry experience that demonstrates equivalent capability.

About You

  • Hard-working, committed and well organised.

  • Strong attention to detail with a quality-focused mindset.

  • Logical thinker with structured problem-solving capability.

  • Clear communicator, both written and verbal.

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently or in a multi-skilled team.

  • Adaptable, proactive, and eager to learn in a dynamic environment.

  • Able to prioritise effectively and meet tight timescales.
