About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Embedded Systems Hardware Engineer to join an innovative engineering team developing next-generation microturbine engine technology for advanced jet propulsion applications.

The team is leveraging additive manufacturing and cutting-edge materials to push beyond current performance limits, creating highly optimised engine designs and bespoke control systems for a range of customer platforms.

This role focuses on the design, development, and testing of production-ready embedded controller hardware. You’ll work closely with controls, mechanical, and systems engineers to refine existing development systems into reliable, scalable solutions suitable for demanding real-world applications.

You’ll be part of a fast-paced and collaborative engineering environment with significant scope to influence both product development and technical direction.

Key Responsibilities
•    Design and develop embedded hardware for production engine controllers, including component selection, schematic capture, and PCB layout
•    Rapidly implement hardware solutions for new engine ancillaries and subsystems
•    Develop adaptable controller hardware platforms suitable for engines across multiple thrust classes
•    Support testing and validation activities to ensure reliability and robustness in challenging operating environments
•    Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges
•    Contribute to agile product development within a fast-moving engineering environment

Essential Skills & Experience
•    Strong background in embedded systems hardware design
•    Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (2:1 or above) or equivalent industry experience
•    Excellent understanding of PCB design principles and best practices, from schematics through to layout
•    Exposure to both hardware and firmware development projects
•    Strong communication and collaboration skills
•    Organised, self-motivated, and capable of independently managing projects
•    A proactive problem solver with a desire to learn and innovate

Desirable Experience

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
•    STM32-based platforms
•    PCB design for highly stressed or harsh environments
•    Electric motor controller design
•    CAN bus implementations
•    EMI/EMC-conscious design techniques
•    C or C++ programming
•    Basic understanding of turbomachinery and engine control systems
•    Experience working within fast-paced, outcome-focused engineering teams

What’s on Offer
•    Competitive salary and benefits package
•    Hybrid working arrangement
•    Opportunity to work on cutting-edge propulsion and control technologies
•    Collaborative, highly technical engineering environment
