Material Analysis Engineer – Advanced Composites & Viscoplastic Modelling
Hampshire, UK
£Competitive + Bonus + Benefits
Are you an expert in constitutive modelling of polymers and composites? Do you thrive on turning complex material behaviour into robust, predictive simulation tools?
We are seeking a highly motivated Material Analysis Engineer to drive the development, calibration, and verification of advanced viscoplastic material models within Finite Element Analysis (FEA) frameworks.
This role sits at the cutting edge of high-performance composite technology used in demanding energy applications worldwide.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and implement advanced viscoplastic material models in Abaqus and/or Ansys
- Create and maintain UMAT/VUMAT subroutines for specialised polymer behaviour
- Define material data requirements and support experimental characterisation
- Model time-dependent and multi-axial deformation of high-performance composites
- Deliver high-quality analysis, documentation, and engineering work packages
- Collaborate across materials, process, and structural analysis teams
What You’ll Bring
- MSc or PhD in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Mechanics, or similar
- Deep expertise in constitutive modelling for polymeric materials
- Strong hands-on FEA experience (Abaqus/Ansys)
- Proven UMAT/VUMAT development experience
- Proficiency in Fortran, Python or Matlab
- Excellent technical reporting and communication skills
Desirable: multi-scale modelling, composite failure mechanisms, HPC exposure, and experience under complex loading conditions.
This is a rare opportunity to shape next-generation composite systems solving real-world engineering challenges at scale.
