Joel Hard

Joel is a living lesson in how to “be the brand”; his honesty, business ethics and passion for quality of service were significant building blocks in the G&H brand and are a contributing factor to our success. His ability to mentor, develop and motivate an industry-leading team has equipped us to work on some of the most coveted recruitment projects in the technical space.

As friendly and unassuming as a person can be, Joel is also an astute business leader who ensures we achieve year-on-year growth through outstanding delivery to our mature client base. Superhumanly well-organised, he conducts himself with signature calmness and passion, and is single-handedly responsible for ensuring the rest of us can concentrate purely on recruiting.

Background

Joel built his reputation as a recruiter within the automotive industry over several years, in the process discovering a flair for managing people and processes. Over more than a decade of experience he has overseen successful volume delivery to major accounts and specialist contingency recruitment campaigns for world-famous brands. 

He co-founded Gerrell & Hard in 2011 to deliver a first class recruitment service based on consulting, not selling, balanced with a desire to create an unrivalled place to work.

Role

Joel is responsible for the day to day management of our operations, team and suppliers, and for developing and overseeing our long-term business plan. He is our chief strategist and, dare we say it, visionary, ensuring we continue to evolve in all the right ways.

An experienced and skilled recruiter, Joel can provide knowledgeable guidance and mentoring to the team or be involved in client assignments, but most of his time is dedicated to ensuing that the business runs to our high standards.

Free time           

Joel spends a lot of his free time volunteering in a teaching capacity within his religious community. A keen footballer, he’s a deft midfielder with quick feet and an eye for goal. He enjoys socialising, dining out, and prefers to keep it quiet that he’s a Manchester United fan. Whoops!

Joel, tell us something about yourself that we might not know…

“I’m a fan of gin! I enjoy attending gin festivals and distilleries, love the artisan approach and the cottage industry that gin manufacture has produced in recent years. I enjoy trying out different varieties. In moderation. Obviously.”

As co-founder, what about G&H are you most proud of, to date?

“Two things, really. It’s exciting to be a part of some pivotal projects at the cutting edge of future technology. We work in some innovative fields, such as electrical vehicles and emissions reduction, and in our way are helping clients to solve real-world challenges – that’s really exciting and I’m proud to be a part of that. Also, I have loved seeing our team here develop over their time with us and the benefits they can enjoy as they progress their careers. I really believe that the only way to get it right for our customers is to get it right for our staff.”
