Job Description

Our client are an automotive company providing hardware and engineering services to OEMs around the world. They have a newly formed Cambridge (UK) based electronics division,which will meet the growing needs of their automotive customers in electronics hardware and software control.

I am seeking a System Requirements Engineer to join their growing engineering team based in Cambridge. You will be responsible for the capture, analysis, generation and management of requirements to support the design and development of our automotive electronic control products and full vehicle EE integration programmes. You will be part of a highly capable team split between Cambridge and Toronto with customers spread across the globe.

You will be working with a range of projects and customers – some with clearly defined requirements, some who rely on their experience and expertise to help develop them. So we need someone who can communicate well, who can build relationships with our customers and who has a good understanding of our end products and the engineering work required to create them.

We need someone who is either experienced in requirements capture, analysis and management in automotive control systems; or someone with product development experience in hardware engineering and / or embedded software engineering of automotive control systems who is looking for a change in direction. Full training will be provided as required.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

• Lead the selection and adoption of a standardised requirements management or ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) tool and supporting processes.
• Working directly with customers, you'll be responsible for capturing stakeholder needs, deriving customer-facing requirements and use cases from them, and managing changes to all items.
• You will be responsible for structuring the customer-facing requirements, leading requirement analysis and decomposition activities with the wider engineering team, developing and maintaining system and lower-level requirements created from them, and ensuring requirement integrity (requirements that are complete, consistent, unambiguous, traceable, and testable).
• Support customers, suppliers and engineering teams in managing requirements.

Ideal Experience;

• Experience of working in a customer-facing technical role.
• Automotive system and design experience for requirements capture, analysis and management.
• Experience of requirements modelling tools and techniques.
• Knowledge and experience with ASPICE and ISO26262 systems and processes.
• Experience with selecting and adopting a requirement management or ALM tool.
• An understanding of automotive control (ECU) systems including one or more of circuit design, simulation, embedded software development and validation.
• Excellent reporting and communication skills.
• Experienced in key safety analysis processes such as FMEA.
