Job Description

Leading powertrain technology business is seeking a Systems Development Engineer. You will join my clients’ Engine Management Systems team located in Coventry. 
This is an excellent opportunity for a degree educated engineer who has a solid grounding in combustion engine or gasoline aftertreatment systems fundamentals; ideally you will have gained industry experience in a related business and role. 
The role offers significant variety of work. This ranges from on-going projects with automotive OEM’s, future engine technology research projects and new product projects. There will also have the opportunity to visit and work with key clients. This will also require some occasion European travel.
Investigation of fundamental mechanisms (physics, chemistry) behind future powertrain system behaviour & control requirements in order to correctly define Gasoline Powertrain component requirements for the future. 
Scenario building based on system understanding and powertrain technology trends, to support the promotion of components and enable relationships to be built with OEM advanced engineering teams. 
Gathering powertrain technology trend information and legislation change information, as an input to Global Powertrain Technology Road Map.
You will typically have a passion for technical products and are likely to have a degree in engineering or comparable education with a focus on mechanical, automotive or electronics engineering. 
The proven ability to manage an electro-mechanical system development project is essential, as is experience of powertrain related systems. 
Fundamental knowledge of IC engine combustion systems or gasoline aftertreatment systems. 
Knowledge of Matlab, Simulink or similar are also beneficial. 
You will be comfortable working either independently or in teams and will demonstrate strong communication and negotiation skills. 
You should be highly self-motivated, with the ability to be flexible and able to use your initiative.
