Job Description

We’re looking for a Software Security Engineer to join a small but growing company and help them move to the next phase.  You’ll be working closely with the Technical Director, Software Engineer and Communications Expert with the specific purpose of providing security expertise concerning the current software.  It’s a relaxed yet professional environment and you’ll be working with some of the very latest technology that uses diverse IT and Engineering systems.

Initially, your remit will be to audit/review the current software and create a threat model to understand where the weaknesses are.  You’ll then move to implement your recommendations and tighten up the software used across the whole business. This will also include the design and training of security protocols to other staff but it’s important to note that this is not a lead or managerial role.

This is varied and wide reaching position. Technically, we are looking for someone who is familiar with common security libraries, security controls, and common security flaws that apply to software applications, and real-time networked systems.

The following is also of interest:
Some development experience (Python, JavaScript, C#, php)
Experience with OWASP
Experience with AWS components (EC2, VPC, OpenVPN, SQL)
Experience with networking & OSI Layers
Comfortable with using GitHub
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrable teamwork skills and resourcefulness
Linux experience (e.g. Ubuntu)

This wouldn’t suit someone who wants to sit at a desk writing specs or someone who doesn’t like trying new methods to solve problems. It’s a small company and you’ll need to have a flexible and proactive attitude.

If you genuinely love technology and like working within a modern office/development environment, and would like to join a growing business then this position could be for you.
