Job Description

Key Objectives & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Principal Engineer – Thermal Systems, you will be responsible for the simulation and analysis of vehicle efficiency focusing on range and thermal/climate systems within the Vehicle Development team.
The Role
- Development of 1D vehicle simulation models covering the vehicle thermal management and cabin climate systems 
- Maintain models in accordance with changes to vehicle hardware, calibration, and component and system physical test data
- Preparation of reports and feedback to the technical and project management teams 
- Run models to verify system requirements, run system experiments, ‘What-if’ scenarios, and identify failure modes
- Pro-actively recommend component, system, and/or calibration changes that improve overall vehicle efficiency
- Work cross-functionally with Vehicle Attributes, Thermal & Climate systems, Electric Propulsion, Interiors, Drive Line, and Electrical groups
- You will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant area with at least 3 years of industry experience
- Demonstrable experience or understanding in the following areas:
o Development of complex system models using 1D simulation applications
o Correlation of simulation results to component & system physical test data
o Correlation of simulation results to hand calculations – sanity checking of model integrity
o System parasitic losses, efficiency, and how they relate to overall energy consumption
o Thermodynamics and heat transfer theory
o Fluid mechanics & pressure loss
o System control and calibration
o Basic understanding of electrical power concepts such as series & parallel circuits, electrical resistance, and power calculations
- Where required support Engineering in cross-functional teams and meetings.
- Comfortable with working within tight time frames
- You will be someone who takes a ‘fresh-eyes’ approach to problem solving and is comfortable with presenting new alternative ideas to the norm
