Job Description

Honda F1 are seeking a Senior Energy Storage System Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The purpose of this role is to work within the Energy Recovery System (ERS) development and testing team, taking responsibility for system level development of primary high voltage circuit, inverter, dc-dc converter and overarching battery management system. You will also be responsible for final sign off of all production ERS units, including fault finding, troubleshooting and implementation of countermeasures during the build process. 
 
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
Provide engineering support to the build team
Diagnose and resolve build issues
Carry out final acceptance testing and review data to ensure all issues are captured prior to track use
Plan, execute and document development as well as durability test activities in a clear, concise manner
Investigate issues, faults or anomalies on ERS packs found during development, production and track use
Review test data and lead the investigation by sharing your findings with supplier or sub-contractor
Feedback your findings to other team members to improve reliability or performance of ERS pack
Be proactive at improving current testing methods and streamlining testing procedure
Design, make and commission new test equipment
Schedule maintenance of test equipment and ensure correct allocation
Support dyno testing activities in Japan, UK and any customer site
Any other tasks as reasonably required by the Company 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:   
 
Experience in developing and validating high voltage battery systems
Experience in designing, specifying and use of ERS production tools / equipment
Experience in ERS testing methodologies 
Familiarity with software tools such as Matlab and Simulink
Fault finding and diagnostic abilities
Excellent document presentational skills
An adept communicator, be able to build good relationships across all cultures both internally and externally
Fluency in spoken & written English is essential. Competence in Japanese or another European language is desirable 
Domestic Travel and Travel overseas will be required
