Our Engineering Consultancy client based in Coventry is seeking a new Senior Buyer from within the Automotive industry with ideally Manufacturing purchasing experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
Responsible for negotiating short-term transactional relationships and long-term strategic contracts with suppliers.
Prepare, define and execute innovative purchasing strategies in order to deliver the required value.
Support technical negotiations with suppliers.
Managing supplier relationships and supplier performance
Cost savings on current business and cost avoidance on future programmes
Will be required to think and act with commercial awareness and will use this skill across all functions of the business.
To support all aspects of the business in commercial activities and change management.
To develop current and future new product strategies with Engineering to optimise costs.
Rationalising parts / suppliers.
Developing existing relationships including year on year cost down strategy.
New Product and New Supplier sourcing.
HEADLINE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong buying and negotiating expertise
Strong sense of ‘business acumen’ and analytical skills
Experience in supplier relationship management
Project management skills
Professionally qualified with a proven track record in a purchasing or other commercial negotiating environment
Strong leadership and influencing skills
Excellent stakeholder management and relationship management skills and experience
An excellent negotiator with a proven track record of successful commercial negotiations
Able to manage and execute complex negotiations.
Ability to be highly organised and continually focus on attention to detail
Driving Licence / Passport required
Exposure to manufacturing / engineering environments in purchasing positions
Excellent examples of supplier relationship management with regards to cost vs price principles
Evidence of meeting deliverables in a fast paced working environment
Strong interpersonal and articulate skills
Strong communication skills verbal and written
Decisive, dynamic, pro-active and assertive qualities
CIPS Degree Qualified.
An understanding of cost drivers throughout a manufacturing environment
An ability to react to changing market dynamics in the buyer / supplier relationships
An awareness of the total business case and end customer value relationship
Experience of dealing with global companies with high value revenue is desired
