Project Engineer: Human Machine Interface
Salary: £40k - £50k
Responsible for defining, designing and implementing system requirements for in vehicle infotainment and cluster systems in addition to preparing studies and analysing existing systems for systematic improvements. Will work on problems of a diverse nature where analysis of data is required. Responsible for defining HMI strategies for the future and working with the stakeholders to ensure their requirements are accounted for.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
•Reviews customer requirements for user interface within vehicles encompassing infotainment unit, Driver information panels, switch interfaces etc. Will need to review feasibility of proposed solutions, and resolve specification open issues with the key stakeholders
•Defines requirements for HMI implementation and leads the development and integration of the interface implementation for vehicle projects. Contributes to the design and usability of a product throughout the development lifecycle. Will need a strong understanding of user interface design best practices
•Support with the feature roll out plan for the software working closely with tier 1 suppliers, to ensure the requirements are met, and all issues are resolved.
•Manages the deliverables from the internal design team and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of project assets in conjunction with the software developments.
•Should be well versed in creating design mock-ups or wire frame simulations/prototypes in order to drive decisions on concepts.
•Performs system level testing of HMI implementation to verify system design, identifies performance gaps and drive improvements into the product. Designs and makes recommendations on how to improve overall system performance and usability.
•Responsible for ensuring Product Definition Document requirements are met with appropriate HMI solutions.
•Identifies, and is responsible for carrying out HMI benchmarking of competitor vehicles using this data to then create recommendations for products
Qualifications and Experience:
Our ideal candidate will have a Degree with experience gained in defining or implementing HMI user interface requirements for electronic products. You will have gained experience in evaluation of HMI performance, tuning of parameters to improve performance of HMI. Your background within application of Human Factors and the Engineering principles in the design, development, test and deployment of infotainment or cluster software will demonstrate the key understanding for this role. It would be ideal if you have experience with voice recognition design or development, if not, that's ok as it's not essential.
You must have experience gained within software engineering, whilst it is desirable if you have gained experience within electrical design, and manufacturing.
