Company background:
Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of fiber lasers for use in cutting, welding and marking applications in a wide range of industries. They sell its products globally and has its major business operations, including R&D, manufacturing and product marketing located in both Rugby and Southampton, UK, with additional sales and customer support locations in Asia and North America.  The business are introducing key new products at pace and this role is critical to the success of these implementations and growth plans.
Job purpose:
This role will be focused in Production to ensure our lasers are built and tested to the highest of industry standards to maintain product quality. To fault find and provide preventative actions to production issues, which could include optimisation of processes and design to maximise production yield. This is an important role in the Operations team with interaction across many functions within the company to ensure our products are delivered to customer on time.
Key areas of responsibility:
Fault finding and diagnostic of fibre lasers.
Reporting of laser failures in Production and feeding back to Production and Engineering teams to establish corrective actions and root cause solutions. 
Working closely with Supplier Quality and Product Quality functions with scrap and failure rate analysis.
Responsibilities will include aspects of electronics, and optical system test.
Support the implementation of NPI liaising between Manufacturing Engineering and R&D.
Required experience:
This role requires a strongly practical, hands-on approach to product investigation, with an understanding of the principles of lasers and associated components, or good electronics background:
Successful candidates will ideally have 3-5 years of experience in a mid to high volume technology/manufacturing environment. Some knowledge and understanding of product requirements, design, qualification, or process development is required. Applicants with less work experience will be considered.
Ideally have worked within cross-functional teams based in a manufacturing environment.
Strong problem solving and methodical thinking skills.
Experience of working in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
Ideally a Degree or higher in electronic engineering, optoelectronics, physics or related discipline. Equivalent experience will be taken into consideration.
Personal Profile:
Must enjoy hands-on optical lab work.
Ability to work across multiple tasks methodically and efficiently and meet committed timescales.
Has drive and initiative to manage their own workload, and the adaptability to be flexible, prioritise and deliver against deadlines and changes in priorities with minimal supervision
Able to work in a dynamic environment and adaptable to changes in priorities.
Ability to integrate into multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams.
Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
Practical with a creative approach to problem solving and the ability to translate engineering requests into working solutions.
Must be diligent, focused and thorough, taking personal pride in their work and achievements.
