•You are considered an expert in the field of Automotive seating and keen to take your next step into an ambitious and exciting OEM
•You have 10+ years of designing, developing, validating, and launching seats into the automotive market at all levels
•You are degree qualified or have relevant industrial experience in Automotive or similar
•You have led, developed, and managed teams of your own already and looking to take it further with a new company
•You have a detailed knowledge and understanding of both structural and upholstery
design and understand what it takes to deliver a best-in-class seating product
•You actively challenge the norm and are keen to do things differently. Do things better. Not just do things ‘because that’s how we have always done them’.
•You have created engineering budgets and justified them to senior management. You have a proven track record of delivering to the budgets you have written.
•You have an excellent understanding of GD&T standards
•You understand digital toolsets including FEA and have an excellent understanding of how to use these toolsets to deliver quality results
•You have an ability to assess, conduct & drive the DFMEA process to ensure right first-time delivery with an emphasis on pre-FDJ detection methods through digital toolsets.
•An excellent communication and presentation skills
•You have a good view of the state of the art in your field and able to research and gain insights into new technological advancements through your network and knowledge of existing suppliers
•You can work proactively with minimal support using a logical approach in an environment with minimal documented processes
•Ability to manage different stakeholders with good interpersonal and communication skills
•You can think creatively to solve feasibility issues
•You have a proven ability to work to deadlines and prioritise your own workload
•You will have overall responsibility for the design and development of Complete Seats Systems for new UK Seating programs.
•You will grow, mentor, and develop a highly technical and innovative team of Product Engineers and Designers.
•Deliver innovation and design into our existing and upcoming programs.
•Lead the technical team to ensure quality, cost and delivery of all UK based seating programs
•Define and implement the latest FEA toolsets into programs and strive towards minimal physical prototyping prior to production tooling
•Responsible for all design and engineering of components and sub-systems within the seating commodity from initial concept and product definition through to series production.
•Ensure delivery of all engineering quality documentation including BOM, DFMEA, DVP, APQP, PSW (support).
•Support in creating and developing best practise design guidelines and pre-FDJ validation requirements to ensure best quality and right first-time delivery
•Manage the team and external stakeholders to ensure quality delivery is achieved in all aspects of the program with a well run and lean Design and Engineering team
•Play the lead role in all supplier engagement and purchasing activities from an Engineering perspective ensuring we source supportive and proactive suppliers and maintain a good and respectful relationship with all of our development partners.
•Ensure on time Engineering release across all Engineering gateways
•Lead the team to deliver new intellectual property and innovations into the seating commodity for and champion for new R&D projects and workstreams
•Play a key part in driving for the
sustainability goals for the 2030 moon-shot vehicle.
Minimum Required Skills & Experience:
•10+ years working in Automotive (or similar) seating (OEM and/or Tier 1)
•Experience with Microsoft Office applications
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Excellent interpersonal & organisational skills, with good attention to detail
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•Able to work in start-up environment
•A Design or Engineering Degree (Other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience will be considered).
•CATIA V5 proficient
•Innovation or R&D experience desired
