Reporting to the Chief Mechanical Engineer, our UK based client is now looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support new product development.
Due to an increasing number of new product opportunities, they are expanding their R&D Department and are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who can re design one of their products, of which there are about 20 varieties.
In order to be considered you'll need to demonstrate previous experience using AutoCAD for 2D and AutoDesk Inventor for 3D design, and you should hold a technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering or something similar.
Of particular interest is the design of sheet metal cabinets/enclosures for housing electrical and electronic components. Experience of machined components, copper/brass materials would be of benefit. Being able to design solutions for thermal and structural considerations would also be useful.
Future projects may include the use of plastics, so any experience with these materials and processes would also be welcomed, but is not essential.
Being able to design sheet metal fabrications, manage BOM's and produce production drawings will be all part of your daily routine.
You'll also be required to support their customers as and when required, so a friendly outgoing attitude will be expected as will the need to be flexible in the tasks you undertake.
From time to time you might be asked to travel overseas on company business.
This position may suit a Design Engineer who has been working on 19" racking systems, telecomm cabinets or other large sheet metal boxes used to package electrical and electronic components.
