Mechanical Design Engineer
A growing vehicle dynamics, development and design consultancy business, Corum Technology, are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.
A highly CAD focused role in a fast-paced environment, designing and developing suspension and chassis systems, you will be fundamental to Corum’s ability to deliver high quality solutions to our valued customers. Our customer expectations are high; as such we are looking for adaptive, driven people to deliver on time to the highest quality.
2-5 years’ experience, ideally in an automotive or motorsport environment.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.)
Good general knowledge of mechanical design and conception.
Knowledge and comprehension of suspension systems with a good overview of vehicle architecture.
Workplace experience in using CAD software (ideally CATIA V5) to generate:
Design of parts.
Assemblies and BOMs.
2-D technical drawings & exporting of files for manufacture.
Manage the status, versions and issues of parts and assemblies in accordance with company policy.
Knowledge of Geometric Tolerancing (GD&T) best practices.
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques (conventional and advanced) and how these affect the design and drawings.
Understanding of Finite Element Analysis methods and the ability to perform fundamental engineering calculations.
Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
Excellent communication & interpersonal skills to support team discussions and meetings with the ability to highlight any project issues, risks, and opportunities.
Strong attention to detail.
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
Experience with specific CAD modules:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a desire to produce innovative design solutions.
Effective time management.
Experience dealing with customers, partners & suppliers.
Customer focus - ability to build and develop customer & supplier relationships.
