Job Description

Our Nanotechnology client are recruiting a Manufacturing and Supplier Quality Engineer. 
 
This role exists to help implement and maintain quality systems and processes throughout the whole business.
 
Main Responsibilities
 
Undertake supplier validation audits
Work with our Quality Inspector to roll out and maintain the Shenzhen Goods-in inspection facility and processes
Work with Engineering to establish goods-in inspection criteria and sample rate
Provide ongoing support to the UK and Shenzhen Goods-in Inspection processes
Assess and improve supplier quality to ensure materials received are free from defects
Review and ensure correct specifications are in place for raw materials
Work directly with key suppliers when defects are found to ensure investigations use the correct tools – 5 Whys, Fishbone, Root-Cause Analysis.
Document and maintain the supplier CA/PA process and database
Assist with the vendor rating process
Assist with Supplier Quality Agreements
Facilitate the design and implementation of quality processes across production
Set quality metrics and KPIs with strong understanding of Lean Six Sigma and problem solving methodologies
Support the internal non-conformance processes
Participate in cross-functional improvement teams to ensure continuous improvement and understanding of methodologies 
Help maintain ISO 9001 activities
Contribute to establishing the future Quality strategy for the business
 
Academic Qualifications or Key Knowledge
 
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Major/Discipline: Engineering or equivalent industry experience
 
Skills & Experience
 
5+ years of experience within a Supplier or Manufacturing Quality role
Experience as a quality inspector with knowledge of inspection techniques
Ability to read engineering drawings and set inspection rate and criteria
Second party (supplier) audit experience
Root cause analysis experience, e.g. Fishbone model
Understanding of quality methodology including AQL, FAI, ORT, Cause & Effect Diagrams, 8D, Process Flows, DFx, DFMEA, PFMEA, Six Sigma (Green belt)
Experience of using quality inspection software tools
Strong understanding of ISO 9001
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Analytical thinking and problem solving
Effective time management skills
