Job Purpose
Manage the overall Passive Safety Attribute team and lead the delivery of Passive Safety Engineering across all vehicle programmes
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
•Manage Passive Safety Attribute Team. Ensuring Passive safety target delivery across programmes. Support direction and management of the staff in line with department objectives set by the Senior Manager.
•Work with Tech Expert to champion process development, continuous improvement and best practise within passive safety engineering
•Work with Tech Expert to develop company passive safety strategy and safety design guidelines
•Coordinate and develop passive safety targets and the vehicle safety council process
•Approve programme safety target documents, ensuring consistency and a cross programme approach to upcoming legislative safety requirements
•Lead performance and development of Passive Safety Attribute team members
•Support technical engineering issues resolution in line with programme targets and constraints
•Responsibility for cross programme financial management
•Liaise with internal and external testing and CAE partners to form strategic relationships for cross programme safety delivery
•Oversee efforts to standardise safety attribute related Design Verification Plan management and timing
Qualifications and Experience
•Good Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) minimum 2.1
•Excellent knowledge of Safety related regulations and test procedures
•Extensive experience gained within Passive Safety development
•Proven track record of achievement within Passive Safety development and delivery
•Experience of staff line management
•Programme management experience (planning, financial and status reporting responsibility)
•Experience of conducting and analysis of full scale crash tests
•Intuitive knowledge of fundamental Mechanical engineering theory
•Excellent IT skills and working knowledge of MS word/Excel etc
•Excellent problem-solving abilities
•Full UK Drivers Licence and flexibility to travel in UK and overseas
•Excellent communication skills and ability to influence at all levels of organisation
•Experience of working with CAE tools to deliver safety performance
