To lead and oversee all areas of Inspection Operations and Audit Operations as per the specifics listed below. The IO / AO manager must be able to lead a large team while delivering a wide range of specific tasks as dictated by differing customers. Interfacing to a senior level when involved in the Quality Management system and being the lead for external audits. While also having to manage the every changing needs of vehicle owners. Continually improving the vehicle quality as delivered to the customer.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
•Manage the inspection performance of the department across all areas of the manufacturing process. Develop the team to be more efficient and to be more consistent in fault detection, work with the team to improve their overall inspection effectiveness.
•Undertake Kamishibai scheduled audits and ensure CCAR close outs for all areas.
•Lead the daily Quality meetings and be the point of contact for the IO department. E.g. start and end of shift reporting, CPA meetings, technical reviews etc.
•Be responsible for the performance of the inspection operations team when resolving CPA owned issues and the presentation of these issues.
•Review quality data and analyse in order that key defects can be defined and understood.
•Communicate quality inspection and audit performance information to Group Leaders in order that they cascade to their workgroup members and personally lead the regular group communication sessions.
•Record and maintain Quality output data tracking and ensure all areas are updated in the Control Centre.
•Review the reasons for missed inspection performance and ensure the key issues can be defined and understood. Ensure that significant issues are tracked and resolved or that the appropriate escalation process is followed. Issues to be escalated as required by the company defined process.
•Lead the continuous development and training activities for the inspection operations team and ensure that the team performance delivers the departmental targets in support of the customer expectations. Understand the 0MIS, Field Data inputs and be able to take short term and strategic action to reduce the defect flow out.
•Lead, review and support practical problem solving / root cause analysis activities. Engage support functions, where required, to generate effective permanent corrective actions.
•Continually develop the IO team to develop further and become more effective, looking at ways to adapt and support in delivering the customers’ expectations.
•Understand and lead the IE activities, ensure that the team are prepared for new MY changes, the area is facilitated to introduce the new models and all the relevant documentation is releases and available for use.
•Lead the development of the team for current and new model training, ensuring the team are prepared for changing requirements and or new model requirements.
•Supervise the Company Quality management systems to ensure certification compliance and ensure Quality operating procedures are both in place and reviewed.
•Manage the Quality Management Systems, lead necessary reviews to ensure that deliverables are met and delivered to schedule and in support of external audits.
•Control conformity of production verification and legal compliance. Ensure that the required schedule delivers the COP requirements across all models and all areas of the manufacturing process, supporting the introduction of incremental requirements as new models are delivered. While also supporting the NMO function in determining the new model requirements, develop the necessary plans to deliver seamlessly into the current vehicle environment.
•Lead the team to deliver the AMCPA EBHS and Flexible Inspection schedule, develop the process to become more flexible and adaptable to reflect the changing demands of the customers.
•Manage and direct the AMCPA & DS feedback sessions ensuring that the owner areas of the business have delivered robust closures to the issues to prevent re-occurrence.
•To lead and support company business improvement initiatives within Audit Operations.
•To administer department performance, assessment and development and develop processes for the areas under your control.
•Manage and develop systems and policies to move finished vehicle quality to the next performance level using CSI data, warranty data and direct dealer feedback.
•To administer company procedures and to ensure compliance.
•Guide the team towards the recertification of ISO 9001 and 14001 and manage the AMIS deliverables on behalf of the company.
Qualification & Experience:
•Degree educated or relevant job experience
•External auditor qualifications desirable
•Understanding of Quality systems
•Previous experience in Quality and Production (automotive/OEM).
•A knowledge of Quality tools and processes is essential.
•Previous management experience within the Automotive industry, preferably within a role entailing Audit and Inspection duties.
•Familiar with Lean manufacturing methods and techniques.
•Knowledge of Quality tools and processes.
•Leadership skills, able to negotiate and influence others.
•Lead the continuous development and training activities for Inspection and Audit Ops in the short and medium term.
