Job Description

My Automotive / Motorsport client is unrivalled in terms of engineering excellent, heritage and future potential. Working at the forefront of Propulsion engineering I am seeking a High Voltage Safety Specialist to join the business on a permanent basis.

Purpose of the role is to…
Lead all aspects of high voltage (HV) related safety, and be the company authority on the subject  
Chair the internal electrical safety panel
Own and manage any internal HV related standards, including the company design guides to ensure companywide standards are met.
Ensure that any that project specific legislative standards/regulations relating to HV are understood and respected
Work with engineering, quality, purchasing, manufacturing, build and test and trackside teams to ensure safe systems of work
Monitor & audit internal design and build activities related to HV systems, processes and components
 Mentor the engineering teams in all aspects of HV design, and support the design and design review process
Develop and run internal electrical safety training programs, and be the issuing authority for all internal training certificates and approval levels
Be skilled at:
Effective communication with staff at all levels within the business
Electrical high power / high voltage engineering theory and practice
Building relationships with key stakeholders, knowing these relationships will be stretched by different vies and challenging timelines
Training and mentoring skilled professionals
Have experience of:
Operating in a challenging electronics/electrical engineering environment
Working with hazardous voltage (1kV) and high power electrical drive systems (100kW+)
Documentation of electronic design
Design & development of automotive (or other safety critical) electronic systems
Automotive electrical engineering systems & safety
Demonstrate knowledge of:
Electronic system engineering principles (excellent)
Standards of design for electrical power systems (excellent)
Standards for the design and production of HV & LV automotive electronic products (nice to have)
Automotive hybrid systems operation (nice to have)
Electronic hardware design (analogue & digital – nice to have)
Working in ambiguous situations and ensuring a pragmatic, safe approach of both defined and followed
Thorough and tenacious in their approach
Demonstrate ownership, accountability and credibility  
Pragmatic, but firm in approach
Excellent written and oral communication
