Job Purpose:
Technical lead able to support development of systems and components for hybrid/electric vehicles
Key Responsibilities and Experience:
The Powertrain Electrification department is responsible for the development of Hybrid and Electric Propulsion systems including all high voltage components. As High Voltage Battery Systems Engineer you will be responsible for the integration of battery systems within vehicle and powertrain projects.
•Support Technical Project Leader in system and functional integration and technical project management
•Preparation of battery system requirements and specifications (incl. FMEA activities and requirements decomposition to component level)
•Liaise with the other teams to provide information regarding the battery requirements and specifications (i.e. SW team, Inverter team)
•Support in definition of test and validation tasks as well as assessment of results (DVP preparation and implementation)
•Support HV battery electrical design, mechanical design, modelling and simulation activities
•Support HV battery controls and functional safety activities
•Support high impact technical issues during launch
•Train, coach, present technical Information and share the knowledge
•Develop best practices to handle the requirements of today and the future
•Develop and present System trade-off studies to solicit direction from Management
•Work closely with eMotor, Inverter, Controls and Concept engineers to define a System meeting the requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
•MoS or PhD Engineering at Mech, Elec, Phys or related field
•Experience gained within energy storage systems
•Demonstrated technical knowledge of battery technology, including:
oPrevalent cell chemistries (performance and lifetime characteristics), design (key parameters of module and pack level packaging, mechanical, thermal, wiring and sensing), failure modes, manufacturing and assembly, supply base and market landscape, applicable industry standards, best practices and regulations, system interfaces, testing/validation methods
•Knowledge about trends and applicability of new technologies
•Demonstrated experience to work in cross-functional teams and driving product development issues to a resolution
•Significant experience in integrating battery systems into automotive applications
•Knowledge of project life cycle management from early Research & Development to series production
•Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, self-motivated, eager to take responsibility and deliver results with minimal supervision
•Understanding of Hybrid powertrains system functionalities and attributes at vehicle, system and component levels
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to organise multiple inputs into succinct summary and manageable discussion
•Passion for the advancement of hybrid and electrified vehicles technology
•Highly organised person who is process driven and able to liaise with multiple individuals
Remuneration Package:
•Salary circa: £45,000
