Job Description

This is a new position within the Engineering Quality & Functional Safety team which sits within Product Assurance.  

The primary responsibility of this role is to support the functional safety activities relating to the development of complex electromechanical products used within the automotive industry. This includes analysis of requirements from top level Safety Goals to lower level Software and Hardware Safety Requirements. As a member of the Engineering Quality and Functional Safety team, you’ll collaborate cross-functionally with domain experts to ensure delivery of the company’s goals and targets.

The role is based in Farnham, Surrey with occasional requirement for some national and international travel, primarily to China.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Systems, Software and Hardware Teams in defining their architectures
  • Supporting the development of safety requirements
  • Creation and review of relevant safety work products including specifications and reports
  • Performing traceability analysis between different levels of the design
  • Supporting Diagnostic Coverage evaluation
  • Supporting verification and testing activities for Systems, Software and Hardware work products
  • Conducting inductive and deductive Safety Analysis (including FMEA, FTA and DFA) at Systems, Software and Hardware Architecture levels

Relevant Knowledge & Experience

Essential:

  • Good technical degree in engineering or science
  • Experience of systems design for embedded systems using a formal development process
  • Experience of hardware and software development for safety related systems;
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508, ISO 26262, DO178 or similar safety standards
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering and SysML
  • Strong knowledge of Safety Analysis methods : Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Dependent Failure Analysis (DFA)

Desirable:

  • Experience with other relevant standards including ISO 9001, A-SPICE
  • Electric motor and drive specific design and manufacture
  • Experience in automotive Tier 1 and/or Tier 2 industry
  • Experience in managing and maintenance of JIRA & Confluence projects and content
  • Familiarity with the use of Dependent Failure Analysis (DFA) to ensure Freedom from Interference
  • Familiarity with APIS and Isograph Reliability Workbench FT+
  • Familiarity with requirements and configuration management
