Job Description

EMC Senior Engineer – Software and Electronics 
Permanent - Midlands

The Role:  
•Responsible for the overall strategy & delivery plan of EMC compliance 
•Define and lead the process for EMC compliance in the global market.
•Ensure EMC technical requirements are achieved and delivered on time, to budget and to the required quality.
•Produce or lead and deliver EMC project technical submissions including; EMC management plans, EMC control plans, EMC risk analysis, EMC design reviews, EMC assurance files, EM site survey reports, EMC test plans and EMC analytical desktop studies.
•Support of our partner OEM and Tier 1 suppliers towards EMC requirement achievement
•Define and write the EMC component test plan process 
•Define and write the EMC component level process requirements and specification.
•Define and write the EMC vehicle level process requirements and specification
•Define and write the surrogate data gap analysis process.
•Define and lead “Design for EMC best practice” in terms of correctly packaging components and electrical distribution network to lower risk. 
•Lead, co-ordinate and report status of EMC compliance reviews. 
•Issue management support, from problem identification through to introduction of final countermeasure using company issue management system
•Supplier management and co-ordination of EMC issues. 
•Provision of information, support and training to Manufacturing and Service departments
•Preparation of reports and feedback to the technical and project management teams

The Person: 
•Demonstrable experience  of EMC at a component, system and vehicle level.
•Knowledge of EM principles and EMC system interactions.
•Knowledge in EMC design guidelines, EMC testing, EM environments and EMC risk analysis
•Experience of leading EMC vehicle projects from concept through the production.
•Electrical, Electronics, Physics or similar honours engineering degree. Other recognized engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience may be considered. 

•Experience of aluminium vehicle structures, alternative grounding solutions and risk.
•Practical experience of vehicle electrical architectures based upon Ethernet, CAN, LIN and Flexray
•Experience of Automotive product development systems (VPDS, FPDS, GPDS, NPDS etc)
•Practical experience of using CAD packages (CATIA) or visualisation applications, particularly where used for EMC modelling techniques.
•Excellent communication and co-ordination skills - at ease coordinating a team of engineers and suppliers. 
•Flexible, enthusiastic and methodical individual who is self-motivated, able to work well under own initiative and remain focused under pressure. 
•No visa or other restrictions for working in the UK or travelling in the European Union. 
•Full driving licence essential.
