This is a great opportunity for a bids and proposals engineer to flex your technical writing ability. As a Technical Bid Writer in the Custom Projects Team, you will play a critical role in crafting high-quality bid responses for bespoke projects. You will coordinate the bid response process, develop and maintain a knowledge base of standard answers and templates, and continuously seek ways to improve the quality, consistency, and efficiency of our bid submissions. Your role will involve close collaboration with various teams and senior stakeholders to ensure timely and high-quality submissions that meet client needs.
You’ll become part of a team that values precision, efficiency, and collaboration and your contribution will be pivotal in securing new business and enhancing the bid response process.
In this role you’ll be working with a range of customers within markets including Oil & Gas, Defence, Ocean Science and Renewables.
The Role
• Bid Writing and Coordination
• Compile, edit, and proofread commercial proposals containing technical content and designs, ensuring they are presented professionally and concisely.
• Review and revise documents prepared by others, coordinating the preparation of these materials into completed bid documents.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers to clearly communicate the scope and timeline of new bids to customers, ensuring alignment with their expectations and project requirements.
• Lead and coordinate the bid preparation process, ensuring that contributors provide timely and high-standard information that meets client needs.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Degree qualified with a proven background of working in an Engineering environment.
• Proven writing experience in a technical authoring field, ideally with a background in Engineering
• Strong technical awareness, including an understanding of internet/network-based solutions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and guide less experienced personnel.
• Substantial experience using MS Office, including Word and PowerPoint
• Exceptional communication skills, particularly in written English (grammar, spelling, and vocabulary)
• Ability to understand technical concepts and tender questions, providing clear and concise responses under tight deadlines and challenging targets. Team-oriented and proactive in prioritizing workload and assigned responsibilities.
• Able to work efficiently within tight timescales, particularly when developing proposals.
