We are looking for a Senior Engineer, Vehicle Development to join our fast-growing team. Working from the office, remotely, or various test locations as required.

You will take responsibility of attribute development processes and strategies for vehicle durability across all Volta’s products. You will take ownership of durability attributes including requirements definition, corrosion standards, reliability predictions, analytical and physical validation.
Develop and implement a vehicle durability strategy that is aligned with the generic product development timing plan to ensure robust durability of Volta products that meet customer expectations
Lead the definition of the vehicle durability & reliability targets and validation standards for each project, seeking agreement from the Vehicle Attributes and Development Lead
Define corrosion requirements and validation standards for each product
Lead cross functional discussions to cascade vehicle level requirements down to system level requirements and materials compatibility
Define and execute vehicle level durability duty cycles including definition of abuse loads and extreme environmental impacts
Lead and execute RLDA activities for each product
Define project reference duty cycles, considering vehicle climatic requirements and overall energy and thermal control strategies
Ensure degradation is in line with customer expectation and vehicle performance can still be achieved at the design end of life
Lead a technology roadmap of a robust durability strategy and underlying processes with the integration of industry standard analytical and physical engineering tools
Plan and manage CAE and testing activities for each project and ensure the integrated durability validation plan is executed
Lead the prototype and test planning responsibilities, including prototype justification and test budget discussions with program team
Support the prototype build plan and build card of validation assets
Manage the testing fleet including logistics, spare parts and planned maintenance supported by test engineers
Prepare and release the statement of work for outsourced activities and test houses in the UK and abroad
Report status of durability and vehicle life attribute at the project meetings as well as at all major gateways
Investigate the durability failure modes and generate reports on root cause analysis and design resolutions with support from system owners
Implement lessons learned into durability standards and processes
Review durability issue management system and support trade-off discussions with other attribute owners
Qualifications and Experience
University degree in a relevant engineering topic
10+ years of experience in product development with focus on vehicle durability, structural and powertrain durability
Proven track record of ability to define attributes and manage attribute conflicts
Hands-on experience and understanding of durability test techniques
Understanding of durability CAE techniques and interpreting analysis results
Previous experience in the utility/commercial/heavy vehicle sector and xEV projects is advantageous
Good knowledge of vehicle proving grounds and facilities in the UK and abroad
Experience of project management and task planning in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment
Experience of delivering projects to demanding cost, time, and quality requirements
