This position would appeal to a Development Engineer who enjoys working in a dynamic and fast moving R&D environment where new product ideas are turned around in a matter of days. You’ll have access to some of the latest tools and be working with about 30 engineers all dedicated to coming up with the latest must have consumer products.
You’ll be specifically working on high end audio products for the automotive industry – systems that are used in cars like Maserati’s and McLaren’s so if you enjoy developing premium products where the focus is on quality rather than quantity then this is definitely for you.
This position involves lots of dialogue. On a daily basis you’ll be talking with industrial partners, in-house design teams & prototyping engineers, creating the latest transducers used in audio systems. This would suit an engineer who has an open communication style, the ability to juggle multiple projects whilst working alongside various specialists.
The focus will be on the integration of transducers and supporting structures to ensure consistent acoustic performance – it’s all very well having great speakers but if they buzz all the time – who wants that!?
In addition you’ll help create transducer prototypes, trim and structural prototypes and the integration of prototype components into demonstration vehicles. The industrial partners will come in on the systems design part.
When you’re not busy with the prototypes, you’ll get a chance to do some research and innovation of new technologies relevant to automotive audio – this might include competitor vehicle benchmarking.
Hopefully your ideas will also lead to the development of other product categories when appropriate.
The ideal candidate is like to have a Degree in Mechanical, Electronic or Acoustic Engineering, Physics or something similar.
As we’ve said, you’ll need to have very strong written and interpersonal communication skills in English.
Technically, it would be great if you can read or edit FEA and 3D CAD models, and if you have experience in the use of basic workshop/hand tools that would be useful.
There will be some travel associated with the position so you should also have a driving license & be willing to travel at short notice.
This position could suit a graduate engineer who loves developing new products and has a passion for the automotive industry and high end audio equipment.
