My Client is a privately owned, medium sized company, specialising in development and manufacture of exhaust and aftertreatment systems for internal combustion engines.
The Design Engineer is a key engineering role providing technical linkage to a number of business areas. The role requires that you be able to undertake and deliver complex designs and documentation to support the company customer base.
Be able to suggest changes and improvements in the current designs as well as drive cost reductions within the company standard product range. The role will support internal and external customers through presentation and written documentation.
Participation in, and lead design reviews then communicating change to the appropriate project team. The role would ideally suit an advanced CATIA V5 user with fundamental knowledge of GD&T principals.
•Working closely with internal and external customers, supporting product development through NPI processes from initial concept and project definition, through design activities.
Be capable of documenting findings in the form of DFMEA, Design reviews etc.
•Deliver feedback to the wider group that drives continuous improvements within.
•Support the Design Team Leader to plan and manage departmental resources, workload and budgets.
•Responsibility to releasing of drawings and BoM into the business management system.

Education and Qualifications:
•An engineering degree or equivalent in Automotive Engineering or appropriate science based subject + min of 1 year industrial experience.
Technical Knowledge and Ability:
•A broad grasp of engineering and scientific principles relating to design engineering.
•A good balance of theoretical understanding and practical knowledge with the drive to see the project through to completion.
•Be capable of running a 3D CAD package such as CATIA V5, Solid Works or ProE to a high level
An advantage if;
•Hot gas system experience
•Design background in Stainless Steels
•Vehicle chassis systems
•Have a good knowledge and track record of tolerance stack-up
