Business Development Manager - Off Highway

I am currently looking to recruit a Business Development Manager for the Off-Highway sector to join our Engineering Consultancy client.

Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager for Defence, Aerospace and Emerging Markets, this is a key role where the successful individual will support the BD team in the identification and securing of profitable new business for the company from the Off-Highway sectors, initially in the Mining and Construction markets. Duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include the development of customer leads and relationships, as well as the identification of relevant new business opportunities. An important part of the role will be to ensure proposals are well structured, accurately drafted and delivered to set deadlines, covering all relevant technical, commercial and programme delivery aspects.

Day to day activities will include supporting customer meetings, often requiring the preparation of engaging and succinct briefing materials, working alongside the technical teams to ensure up to date and accurate information is included. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to compile market analysis data, enabling new market and customer engagement. When preparing proposal documents, close liaison with the legal team will be vital to ensure all commercial documentation is prepared and communicated to the customer both accurately and in a timely manner.
There will be a requirement to align with business process to ensure a robust approach to newly identified business opportunities is followed, resulting in the securing of accurately costed and scheduled scopes of work, which can be subsequently delivered by the programme and technical teams to the cost, time and performance levels quoted.

Representing the brand providing event support, including some travel nationally and internationally, will be an important part of the role. The successful individual will have experience of working in a commercial environment; with a good track record of securing customer contracts through the delivery of timely, engaging and well-structured proposals. Familiarity with the Mining and Construction sectors is highly desirable. Experience of MS Office, in particular MS Project and Excel, is preferable.
