Aluminium Welding Expert
£40 - £50p/h
Reporting to the Chief Engineer of Manufacturing, the primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that their new technology continues to be developed and matured from an engineering and manufacturing perspective and provide support to the wider design team in order that the company can deliver client projects in a professional, cost effective and timely manner.
In this role, you will be expected to advise and direct the design and manufacturing teams on how to implement the technology in practice. This will involve determining what technical data and information is required and creating design and manufacturing guidelines for the production of vehicle structures manufactured from welded/joined Aluminium extrusions. The person filling the role will be the authoritative expert within the company with respect to Aluminium structures.
Experience and Qualifications:
It is anticipated that you will be educated to at least Degree Level in an appropriate engineering field and have a minimum of five years in a vehicle OEM environment.
You will be an expert in Aluminium joining applications such as manual and automated welding, with the background knowledge and experience to understand the methodology of Aluminium welding processes.
A knowledge of Aluminium welding standards and quality control processes is preferred along with experience in tubular frame structure manufacture.
Process design experience desirable.
Catia V5 (or alternative CAD system) design experience preferred, but not essential.
Given the nature of the responsibilities detailed above, you will also need to be a good communicator and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications. You will also need to be highly organised, analytical and have a keen eye for detail. You should be a self-motivated individual capable of working under your own initiative as well as meeting tight deadlines as part of a team.
