Job Description
Reporting to the Technical Director this position is for an experienced acoustics engineer to understand and deliver Doppler technology solutions that meet the commercial requirements and manage the team through all stages of delivery.
This company has been at the forefront of subsea innovation for the last 40 years, an independent manufacturing business, employing almost 300 employees worldwide. The company offers interesting engineering challenges that require complex solutions and as such staff turnover is low due to the nature of the work and the way employees are treated.
This position will be to investigate and establish the functional requirements of Doppler technology and software related systems by liaising with customers and internal stakeholders. Budget proposals, management of the team (Senior Embedded Software Engineer, Embedded Software Engineer and Global Business Development) as well as the design, development and test of new systems will be part of your remit.
Typical customers are in the oil & gas, water and oceanographic industries so any exposure or understanding of their requirements would be a bonus.
There is some travel associated with this position and this may involve up to 10 offsite visits of 1 week internationally.
Essential
• Experienced user of Doppler technology in the field
• A good understanding of physical oceanography
• Educated to degree level i.e. BSc/BEng or equivalent qualification in a related discipline; such as Oceanography or Physics
• Educated to A Level or above in Maths
• Experience of development cycles for embedded software, including developing new novel applications from scratch.
• Analytical skill to understand the current profiles and customers’ needs
• Experience in the development of quality solutions to tight timescales
• Exposure to different development methodologies
• Project management skills
• Customer requirements management
Desirable
• Relevant experience of developments for complex and technical challenging applications
• Development experience using Matlab
• Windows development experience (Visual Studio .NET; C#, Lua, etc.)

Hours of work are 8.30 – 5pm (some flexitime available)
