We are looking for a Principal Propulsion System Engineer to join Volta's fast-growing team.

What you will do:
Take responsibility for the ongoing delivery of the Volta Zero propulsion system and auxiliary electromechanical systems; including all aspects of the eAxle, driveline, air compressor and electro-hydraulic steering systems.

- Be the technical expert and engineering owner of the electric propulsion (eAxle) and auxiliary HV electro-mechanical systems on the Volta Zero
- Ensure all components and systems meet the technical and programme requirements; including working hands-on with development and production vehicles to ensure the vehicle meets its attribute targets and functionality at all build and test phases
- Liaise with and manage suppliers to ensure the programme is supported as required throughout its lifecycle
- Lead on resolving complex technical issues and ensuring readiness of the propulsion systems for series production
- Contribute to all aspects of the development life-cycle including requirements, attribute definition, FMEA, DVP and certification
- Manage a small team of engineers supporting the powertrain and propulsion systems

We would like you to have:
- At least ten years’ experience of working with EV powertrain systems for automotive applications in either an OEM or tier 1
- Demonstrable technical competence in a broad range of EV powertrain and driveline topics
- Demonstrable understanding of the automotive programme lifecycle and a successful track record delivering EV powertrain systems into production
- Experience with commercial vehicles is strongly desirable
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills as well as good communication and collaborative skills
