Our client is on a mission to prove that sustainability can be special. Using their in-house developed 800V electric powertrains and incredible design they are redefining classic cars.

We are seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join the small but growing team. You will be instrumental in the development and implementation of control systems for LV and HV systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop model-based software using Simulink.
Implement Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) testing frameworks.
Apply a first principles approach to solve engineering problems.
Collaborate with the wider engineering team to integrate control systems with electric powertrains and automotive chassis.
Conduct hands-on testing and fault-finding to ensure optimal performance and reliability of control systems.
Simplify complex engineering challenges to deliver efficient and effective solutions.

Key Competencies:

At least 5 years of experience developing model-based software, ideally in Simulink, for embedded software development and deployment.
Solid understanding of control theory.
Experience with on-vehicle ECU calibration.
Proficiency with CAN Bus interrogation and stimulation tools such as Vector CANalyzer.
Experience developing and correlating plant models with real components for HIL and MIL testing.
Experience using oscilloscopes for fault-finding is preferable.
Experience with software version control and documentation.
Familiarity with high voltage systems and architectures is preferable.
Understanding of control hardware, CAN topology, and wiring systems.
Reasonable understanding of mechanical systems.
Ability to avoid overly complex solutions to simple problems.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry.
Demonstrated experience in the development and testing of control systems for electric vehicles.
Right to work in the UK.
